Acceptance

Pardon the language if it offends... and I’d extend the invitation to both genders to ponder. At this point in life, do you actually see the other person and acknowledge the journey they took to stand before you, accept it, with the Other people to make the rest of their life better in some capacity? Or are we just continuing the same patterns that led to where we are today?

In other words, are we growing from our experiences, are we acknowledging growth in a potential partner? Are we willing to accept them wherever that path of growth might lead? Are we willing to accept them for who they are today?

In other groups I see a lot of resentment festering, a lot of grudges held. Are we trying to move beyond the pain of yesterday? Or are we allowing it to become us today? Why? Is it easier to sit in the pain? Or do the work to heal? It takes humility to heal from heartbreak as much as it does to heal from sin. Especially when we are the ones to break our own heart (by sinning for example). Is there a difference between the kind of sin which is falling short vs that of defiance?
