The Price of Beauty AND Strength

Wounds Hidden and beauty accentuated by perfect placement of tools of the trade and pristine adornments, we hide the evidence of damage that comes alongside strength and endurance building, especially when it comes to making the difficult appear graceful. What is the true self? Is it the scarred, blistered, mangled, bloodied feet from hours of rehearsal? Or is it the prima donna on opening night? Which is the real athlete/artist?

I venture... both. Both are real parts of her, both deserving of recognition. The presence of one does not negate the presence of the other. Beauty and strength coexist, but so often we forget the cost of the combination.
